Living the Dream

Odivelas

Dear family,

I'M ALIVE!

Don't worry, we had a conference on p-day so we couldn't do internet because we got home right before we were supposed to go out and work, so we were going to do internet the next day, but we ended up having appointments literally every hour with not even enough time to eat, let alone do internet, so it has been pushed back for today (as a blessing because we are supposed to be teaching someone right now but it fell through, so Heavenly Father gave us a little time...)

It was great to hear from all of you and how everything is going. Sounds like lots of fun activities at the end of the school year. The work here is pretty explosive! We are planning to have four baptisms this week--2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. We are also trying to plan a portas abertas [Open House] activity with the youth on Saturday. And between the extra meetings, taking care of recent converts, finding new investigators, marking our investigators to get baptized, organizing baptisms, etc. I am having a hard time sleeping! Ha ha. But I love it. Yesterday we marked three people for baptism and we are trying to work with all of them to get them ready.

Let me tell you about them really quick:
Tony (Antonio) is from Guinea Bissau (Africa for those who don't know) is a grandfather and is super elect. He said he has never been baptized in any religion, although many have tried to convince him. Yesterday we just said a prayer with him to ask God if he should be baptized on Sunday and he started crying throughout the prayer. Then he told us this morning that he had a really good dream last night, so we are excited to see what he saw...he brought his two grandkids to church and loves taking care of them while his daughter works. He is just awesome.

Then there is Maria who is the girlfriend of a recent convert in another area. She is sweet, shy, and timid, but she lives all of the commandments and will be baptized on Saturday. She is from St. Thomas (group of islands off of Africa for those who don't know)

Ivete is from Mozambique and is a grandmother that has been in an evangelical church and knows that it is not completely the truth. She is still looking for an answer to her prayer, but we know that she will be baptized this Sunday as well.

Then there is Tenda (which means tent in Portuguese, yeah, never heard this name before...) who is from Guinea and he came to church twice but never had time to meet with us. We finally met with him and he loved church and is marked to get baptized this Saturday, but he still has a lot of repenting and changing to do, so we have to be firm with him to get him through everything.

Basically, that is it and we are still marking other people to be baptized every week. It is awesome. There are so many elect out there that there is not even enough time to find them all, let alone teach them all. But, I love this work and everything is going great.

Thanks for your support! I love you all, have a great rest of the week!

Love,

Irma Perez
